The W. E. B. Du Bois Institute for African and African American Research is a few minutes walk from the center of Harvard Square. Our map indicates the most common destinations.

From the West (via I-90): Take the Massachusetts Turnpike (I-90) east to exit 18 (a left exit), Cambridge/Allston. After the toll booth, bear right towards the Cambridge exit. At the second set of lights--just before the bridge--turn left onto Storrow Drive. Proceed about 1/2 mile to the Harvard Square exit. Turn right onto JFK Street, crossing the Larz Anderson Bridge.
At the fourth light on JFK Street, take a left onto Brattle Street (you should see the Out of Town newsstand on your right), moving into the right lane. When the road forks shortly thereafter, bear right and continue on Brattle Street. Take a left onto Story Street and a second left onto Mount Auburn Street. 104 Mount Auburn Street will be on your right past Eliot Street and a median. You will have gone too far if you see a small park and Peet's Coffee & Tea on your right.
From North of Boston (via I-93): Take I-93 south to exit 26, Storrow Drive. Proceed about 4 miles to the Harvard Square exit. Turn right onto JFK Street, crossing the Larz Anderson Bridge. Continue following directions under "From the West" above in paragraph two.
From South of Boston (via I-93): Take I-93 north to exit 26, Storrow Drive. Proceed about 4 miles to the Harvard Square exit. Turn right onto JFK Street, crossing the Larz Anderson Bridge. Continue following directions under "From the West" above in paragraph two.
Parking: On-street parking is scarce in Cambridge, but there are several public parking lots and garages. There is also parking available at the Harvard Business School, which is located across the Charles River from the College. The Harvard Business School parking lot is located on Western Avenue (off of Storrow Drive) and costs $9.00 per day. You can buy parking passes at 3 Bow Street, Cambridge, MA.
FROM LOGAN AIRPORT
By subway (the "T"): Take the SILVER Line to South Station. Switch to the RED LINE outbound (toward ALEWIFE), go six stops and get off at HARVARD.
By taxi: The ride to Harvard Square takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic. Typically, the ride from Logan Airport to Harvard Square costs about $35-$40.
FROM SOUTH STATION (BUS/TRAIN STATION)
By subway: Take the RED LINE toward ALEWIFE from South Station six stops to HARVARD SQUARE.
