Biography Information
Joanna Lipper is a filmmaker, photographer and author of the nationally acclaimed book, Growing Up Fast. Her work as a documentary filmmaker has been supported by the MacArthur Foundation, Ford Foundation, ITVS, Britdoc Foundation, the Tribeca Gucci Documentary Fund and Chicken & Egg Pictures. In 2012, she won the Tribeca Gucci Spotlighting Women Documentary Award for The Supreme Price. Previous films include Inside Out: Portraits of Children, Growing up Fast and Little Fugitive. As a Lecturer at Harvard, she teaches AAAS 109 “Using Film For Social Change.” This course integrates film, photography and social engagement and is cross-listed in Women’s Studies and Visual and Environmental Studies.
